Internationale organisatie voor agf-standaarden opgericht
Afgelopen week is de International Federation for Produce Standards (IFPS) officieel opgericht. De doelstelling is om de toekomst van standaarden te onderzoeken op diverse gebieden. De organisatie is samengesteld uit telersassociaties over de gehele wereld. De IFPS biedt een internationaal forum dat problemen gaat aanpakken die internationale harmonisatie en standaardisatie behoeven.
Aanvankelijk zal de IFPS zich op de volgende onderwerpen richten:
* Technologieën: productidentificatie, bijvoorbeeld via RFID;
* Herleidbaarheid: harmonisatie van bestaande richtlijnen en standaarden;
* Gewasbeschermingsmiddelen: verzamelen van informatie over landspecifieke toelaatbare hoeveelheden, wetgeving, gevolgen voor wereldwijde handel;
* GAP (Good Agricultural Practices): harmonisatie van bestaande schema’s, biologische standaarden, certificeringen, etc.
Jane Proctor, van de Canadian Produce Marketing Association en Stuart Johnston van United Fresh (NZ) hebben de functie van resp. voorzitter en vice-voorzitter.
